St. Peter

The church of St Peter, also known as the church on the mountain, above Begunje is a popular destination. A short, steep path will reward you with an unforgettable views of Radovljica (Radol’ca), Bled and Triglav.

Inside the church are magnificent frescoes made by Jernej of Loka, and just beside the church is an archeological site in a cave which is said to have healing powers. In the immediate vicinity of the church you can find a viewing point and paragliding take-off point. The path continues towards the Sankaška koča lodge where you can treat yourself with refreshing beverages and homemade meals.

The themed trail starts at the parking lot across from the inn Pri Jožovcu in Begunje, from where you just have to follow the orientation signboards. You can reach the St Peter church from Krpin – pass the playground and inn and ascend along the path at the edge of the forest. The path is circular, so you can ascend on one side and descent on another.
